Paya Bay sits on a bluff on Roatan’s East End with two half-moon beaches below it, and you do not need to be a hotel guest to use them. The resort sells day passes and caps them at 30 visitors, so it stays quiet.
Paya Bay also keeps designated naturist zones, which makes it one of the few spots on the island set up for clothing optional beach time. The zones are separate from the rest of the property, so the day works either way. The resort advises guests who are uncomfortable around nude sunbathers not to book.
Getting there takes planning. Camp Bay is at the far eastern end of the island, a 60 to 90 minute drive from the cruise terminal, so treat this as a full day out rather than a stop between other things. The pass costs $95 for adults, $65 for children 12 and under and $85 for seniors over 64, plus 15% tax and any alcohol. It includes round-trip transport from the cruise terminal, a welcome fruit drink, a seafood lunch, access to both beaches and the nature trails, and snorkeling from shore, with snorkel gear rented for an extra fee.
