A taxi is the quick way from the airport or ferry dock at a standard fare. A private driver is booked ahead and waits for you at arrivals. Many will stop at a grocery store while you shop, give you a short island tour on the way, and answer your questions about where to eat and what to see. Contact them directly for rates.
Both are accepted. The airport board lists prices in US dollars, and drivers also take lempiras. Carry small bills so you can pay the exact fare.
A tip is not included in the posted fare and is up to you. Adding a few dollars when the driver helps with heavy luggage is a kind gesture.
The posted airport fare covers one car for 1 to 4 people. For 5 or more people, or a lot of luggage, ask for a van and agree on the price before you leave.
Yes. The airport board says prices change after 6 PM. Agree on the fare with the driver before you get in.
When cruise ships are in port, taxis near Coxen Hole and Mahogany Bay are in high demand and the main road gets busy. Agree on the price first and leave extra time to get back to your ship.
A colectivo is a shared taxi. Each rider pays a per-person fare and the car stops for other riders along the way, so it costs less but is not express. We will add colectivo fares after we confirm the current official sheet.
Adentro is Spanish for “inside.” On a fare sheet it means the trip leaves the main road and goes into the neighborhood, which is priced separately.
