January 1 is New Year’s Day, a paid national holiday in Honduras under Article 339 of the Labor Code.
Bank branches close on January 1 and reopen the next working day. On December 31, 2025 most branches closed at midday and mall branches at about 2 PM, while ATMs and online banking kept working. Employers who keep staff working on the holiday must pay them double under Article 340, so restaurant, shop and tour hours vary. Check with the business before you go.
