Captain Aaron Etches has run a Roatan charter business for 18 years and now works from West End aboard Deez Knots, a Grady-White 306 with twin Yamaha 300 outboards. Fishing trips of four or eight hours troll for mahi-mahi, blackfin tuna and wahoo, and a full day runs to the Cayos Cochinos wall. The island day trip swims with nurse sharks at Pigeon Cay, snorkels Jade Beach and enters the mangroves, with a grilled lunch aboard. The Pigeon Cay and Utila day trips need at least six guests. Tackle, snorkel gear, drinks and snacks are included, and every route depends on weather and sea conditions.
