Kristi’s Overlook is one of those places that is easy to keep going back to. Good food, fair prices, a laid-back atmosphere, and a ridgeline view of the south side of Roatan is a pretty solid combination.
Located in First Bight, about 10 to 12 minutes east of French Harbour, Kristi’s Overlook sits set back off the road with a great overlook and plenty of character. On clear days, you can see mainland Honduras in the distance. It feels casual and comfortable from the moment you pull in.
I stop here often since it is close to my house, and the food has been consistently fantastic. That matters. This is not a one-time good experience being turned into a glowing review. I have been here dozens of times, and it has earned a regular spot in the rotation.
This visit was for Taco Tuesday, which is one of the easier lunch deals to like on the island. I ordered 2 birria tacos, 1 Baja fish taco, and 1 al pastor taco at $3 each. The birria is still my favorite here. I keep coming back to it for a reason. The Baja fish was a close second with a nice piece of fried fish, and the al pastor was excellent too. They also offer grilled fish for anyone looking for a lighter option.

The food here is proper Tex-Mex the way it should be cooked. The handmade tortillas stand out right away. The sauces taste fresh, the spice level is right where it should be, and the portions are solid. If you are ordering tacos, 3 seems to be the magic number if you are hungry.

One of the nice things about Kristi’s Overlook is that it does not rely on the view alone. The place has personality. The atmosphere is casual, the crowd is usually a mix of locals, expats, tourists, and tour guides, and it works equally well as a quick lunch stop or a more relaxed sit-down meal.

The overlook itself is a big part of the appeal. You get a nice breeze, a wide look at the south side of the island, and one of those settings that makes lunch feel a little less routine.

One detail I liked on this visit was the little battery-operated fan on the table to help keep the bugs away. Simple idea, but a smart touch for outdoor dining. They also have free Wi-Fi, they do not charge for water, and the special margaritas are $5. I still need to circle back for the jalapeño margarita.

Parking is usually pretty easy, although it can fill up at busier times. If needed, you can double park and let the hostess know so they can find you if someone needs out.

Kristi’s Overlook is worth knowing about for more than just Taco Tuesday, but Taco Tuesday is still the obvious move. The bigger takeaway is consistency. Good Tex-Mex, fair prices, solid portions, and one of the better lunch views on the island is a combination that keeps people coming back.
