If you are looking for a true sports bar setup on Roatan, Herby’s Sports Bar & Grill in French Harbour is hard to beat. Big screens, plenty of TVs, sports memorabilia throughout, generous portions, a broad menu, cold draft beer, and regular entertainment all come together in a way that feels like a real sports bar, not just a restaurant with a few games on in the background.
This visit started as a late-night food stop. I looked up from work and somehow it was already 9 PM. Nothing in the fridge sounded good, so I made a run to Herby’s. That alone says something. They open at 11 AM, but they are also a very handy option later in the day when your schedule gets away from you and you still want a real meal.
On this stop I went with the Cuban sandwich served with wedge fries and coleslaw, plus a Flor de Caña and Coke Zero with lime.
One of my go-to favorites.
The sandwich was tasty, loaded up, and definitely a generous portion. Plenty of meat, melty cheese, pickles, and mustard, pressed just right. It felt like a real meal, not one of those sandwiches that looks decent until you cut into it and realize they got stingy. Honestly, I probably could have eaten half and taken the rest home. I definitely left with a full stomach.

The wedge fries were solid too, and the whole thing did exactly what I wanted it to do. Filling, flavorful, and satisfying.

That said, Herby’s is more than just a good late-night stop. The bigger story is what the place offers overall.
The sports bar setup is a huge part of the appeal. Herby’s has the kind of room that immediately tells you what it is. TVs wrapped around the bar, a big central viewing setup, sports memorabilia throughout, and an arena-style suspended scoreboard all give the place real game-day energy. It feels built for sports fans. If you want to catch a game in air conditioning with plenty of screens and a lively atmosphere, this is one of the strongest setups on the island.
The menu is also bigger than most people probably expect. Burgers are clearly a major part of the draw, and from the menu and photos it is easy to see why. Lots of options, strong toppings, and the same generous portion approach that showed up with the Cuban. Beyond that, they also cover wings, loaded nachos, tacos, quesadillas, sandwiches, pressed paninis, wraps, pizza, steaks, seafood, ribs, chicken, salads, soups, frozen drinks, draft beer, and homemade desserts. That gives Herby’s real repeat-visit value. You can come back more than once and still have plenty left to try.

A few menu categories stand out right away. The burger section is deep and looks like one of the main reasons people keep coming back. Wings and appetizers make sense for game time. The pressed sandwiches and wraps give you solid lunch and casual dinner options. Then the menu stretches further into steaks, shrimp dishes, fish and chips, scratch-made pizza, and desserts like key lime pie, cheesecake flan, brownie bottom cheesecake, and a fudge brownie served with ice cream. If you are with a group, this is the kind of place that makes life easy because almost everybody can find something.

Drinks are part of the appeal too. Frozen margaritas, daiquiris, featured cocktails, and Roatan Island Brewing draft beer all fit naturally with the sports bar vibe. Add in happy hour and regular entertainment, and Herby’s becomes more than a place to eat. It becomes a place to hang out.

That entertainment side matters. Herby’s is not just about sports on screens. They also keep things moving with karaoke, live island music, and other regular events during the week. That gives the place more personality and makes it useful for different kinds of visits. Lunch, dinner, game time, music night, drinks with friends, or a later-evening meal when options start thinning out.
What I like most about Herby’s is that it knows exactly what it is. It is not trying to be fancy. It is not trying to be a trendy cocktail lounge or upscale dining room. It is a proper sports bar with a broad menu, generous portions, cold drinks, lots of screens, and enough energy to make it a place people come back to.

That matters on Roatan. There are plenty of bars and plenty of restaurants. There are fewer places that really deliver the full sports bar experience.
Pro Tip: Herby’s is worth remembering for more than just one kind of visit. It works for lunch, a casual dinner, watching the game, meeting up with friends, or grabbing a later meal when your day gets away from you. If you like true sports bar energy, this is one to keep on your list.
Herby’s Sports Bar & Grill is one of my go-to spots in French Harbour for a reason. On this visit, the Cuban delivered exactly what I wanted. But the bigger picture is that Herby’s offers one of the strongest true sports bar setups on Roatan, backed up by a broad menu and consistently generous portions. If you want big screens, solid food, cold drinks, and a place that actually feels like a sports bar, Herby’s is hard to beat.
